The School of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB ) invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Curriculum & Instruction to begin July 2026. We seek a visionary collaborative and innovative leader with a strong scholarly record administrative experience and a commitment to excellence equity and engagement. The Chair provides strategic academic and administrative leadership for the Department of Curriculum & Instruction which includes diverse programs in educator preparation school psychology the learning sciences and advanced degrees. The Chair promotes a culture of trust collaboration and continuous improvement and advocates for the department within the School University and broader educational community.
Required Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree in an appropriate field of educator preparation. A record of accomplishments commensurate with a tenure track appointment at the rank of full professor. Demonstrated excellence in scholarship teaching and service. Successful academic administrative experience at the program or department level (or equivalent). Experience with promotion and tenure processes including mentoring and evaluation. Knowledge of accreditation and assessment processes.
