Summary
Monte del Sol seeks a bilingual Assistant Head Learner (AHL) poised to step into the instructional and cultural leadership of the school. The AHL collaborates with the Head Learner (Charter Director) to promote a positive and inclusive school more traditional models the AHLs role is similar to a school principal. The Assistant Head Learner partners with faculty support staff students and families to ensure strong instructional practice inclusive systems of support and clear pathways to graduation and post-secondary success.
Primary Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Support teachers and staff in preparing and delivering engaging inquiry-based curriculum aligned to New Mexico Public Education Department standards.
Conduct classroom observations and coaching protocols focused on growth and reflective practice.
Collaborate with teachers to strengthen authentic assessment exhibitions of learning and graduation competencies.
Remain actively engaged in pedagogical practices that meet the moment in public education including approaches that support diverse learners and thoughtfully respond to emerging realities such as AI.
Monitor student learning data and coordinate targeted academic interventions.
Support vertical alignment across grades 712 to ensure coherence high expectations and responsiveness.
Contribute to professional learning communities and staff development.
Culture and Community of Care
Co-lead restorative and relationship-centered discipline practices.
Collaborate with counselors special education staff and MLSS intervention teams to ensure inclusive supports for all learners.
Oversee attendance systems and proactive student support strategies.
Promote culturally responsive practices.
Family & Community Partnership
Communicate effectively in English and Spanish with families regarding academic progress and student well-being.
Support student-led conferences exhibitions and community-based learning events.
Assist families in understanding graduation pathways college and career readiness benchmarks and post-secondary planning.
Strengthen school-home partnerships grounded in shared responsibility and accessible communication.
Operations & Accountability
Assist with charter compliance reporting and implementation of Performance Framework goals.
Support state testing coordination and graduation requirement tracking.
Supervise daily school operations including safety protocols and supervision systems.
Serve as acting Head Learner in the Head Learners absence.
Staff Supervision
Supervise and evaluate assigned staff in alignment with New Mexico licensure and evaluation requirements.
Provide clear actionable feedback that strengthens instructional practice.
Model professionalism integrity and collaborative leadership.
Required Qualifications Valid New Mexico Administrative License (or eligibility).
Minimum eight years of successful secondary teaching experience (grades 712).
Demonstrated instructional leadership experience.
Minimum three years of successful school administrative experience.
Knowledge of state graduation requirements and accountability systems.
Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written).
Experience supporting adolescents in middle and/or high school settings using traumainformed approaches.
