Job Summary

âPURPOSE STATEMENT:

âDirect supervise and coordinate the activities of the Patient Support (Behavioral Health Aide) team to ensure safe therapeutic and patient-centered care within the facility.

âESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • âProvide medical or therapeutic care direct and indirect diagnostic and therapeutic procedures topatients following the instructions of physicians or other health practitioners.
  • âCoordinate the work and activities of assigned staff including setting performance expectations in the day-to-day operations of the unit.
  • âProvide guidance and direction to staff andencourage/buildmutual trust respect and cooperation among team members.
  • âAssistpatientswith their daily living activities andadminister basic health care or treatments.
  • âParticipate in therapeutic or recreational group.
  • âOversee admitting and discharging.
  • âMonitor physical and emotional well-being ofpatientsand report unusual behavior or physical ailments to appropriate and maintain recordsof progressand services performed.
  • âObserve andinfluence thebehavior of thepatients bycommunicatinginteracting with them teaching andcounseling.
  • âEncouragepatientsto participate in social recreationalor other therapeutic activities that enhance interpersonal skills or develop social relationshipsand teach strategies to promotepatientwellness and independence.
  • âLeador co-lead individual or group sessions as part of specific recreational or therapeutic procedures.
  • âCollaborate with other staff in working with the population of thefacility to treat rehabilitateand returnpatientsto the community.
  • âMay provide transportation forpatientsas needed.
  • âDemonstrate a positive empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.â When patient needs are not met acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.â Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

âOTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • âPerformother functions and tasks as assigned.

âEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • âHigh Schooldiplomaor equivalentrequired.
  • âAssociatesorBachelorsdegree in human service field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • âTwoor moreyearsexperience with the population of the facility in a patient support rolerequired.
  • âOne or more years experienceas a lead or previous supervisory experiencerequired.

âLICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • âCPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • âFirst aid may be required based on state or facility.
  • âMay require a valid state drivers infacilitieswhere transportingpatientsis an essential function.
