ID Recruitment are working with a large mechanical manufacturing company in Castlebar Mayo to recruit a Junior Quantity surveyor. This role which will work closely with the lead Quantity Surveyor will provide day to day QS service on projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior QS to be part of a company that is involved in a variety of large projects including industrial commercial healthcare and data centres. The role will receive excellent mentorship for the existing QS team and as a fast growing company it will also offer excellent career progression opportunities.
Main duties and responsibilities include;
- Coordinate with project management and other departments to carry out day to day QS services on projects.
- Complete and be part of the tendering team to secure projects globally ensuring all risks are being highlighted and specifications requirements of the end clients are being achieved or bettered.
- Optimise purchasing of materials and other key elements for projects being delivered by the business.
- Evaluate quotations obtained from different suppliers & subcontractors ensure quantities and specifications are in line with tender and projects specifications.
- Preparation of payment application and agreeing with Client.
- Preparation of variations on a project submitting these with accompanying supportive data to ensure a positive outcome.
- Responsible for tendering projects to successful outcomes also forming relationships with the clients commercial and project teams.
- Perform material take offs prior to purchase requisitions for the projects and report any irregularities.
- Keep up to date all tracking data base templates as required.
- Examine control and evaluate sub-contractors invoices and ensures the contractual obligations are satisfied and advise the project management on payments of the same. Identify changes from AFC and Tender drawings.
- Preparation of final accounts.
- Providing regular project performance data reports to management to ensure profitability is being maintained.
- Comply with company QEHS Management System requirements i.e. perform your work according to your process documents procedures and maintaining document information/completing forms/records as required.
- Understand and apply with our QEHS policies statement in all aspects of your work.
Requirements
Skills education and experience.
- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in Quantity Surveying Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- HVAC or Mechanical experience is an advantage but not essential
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to analyse drawings and specifications
