Position Summary
A Tool Maker/Inspector role has arisen for you to have the opportunity to work in Rolls-Royce Precision Casting Facility (PCF) Toolroom located in Derby.
The PCF is the largest UK supply chain unit within Rolls-Royce as a Tool Maker/Inspector you will be responsible for manufacturing repairing and inspecting a variety of tooling from wax injection mould dies to special to product tooling. You will be responsible for inspecting & maintaining on / off-site fixturing adhering to fixture care plans and calibrating special to product tooling using both first principles and CMMs
What you will be doing:
Working closely with operations engineering and maintenance teams to produce new / maintain current tooling & spares from the front to back end of the facility for all production operations. The role will be multiskilled by means of you designing ordering materials manufacturing inspecting and delivering operational support to production for tooling/fixturing.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures (safety quality employment expenses training PPE etc.) and inspect Injection tooling to a defined specification.
- Project a flexible proactive approach coupled with willingness to work shifts as required to ensure the output objectives are achieved.
- Complete and maintain documentation and records in accordance with the Companys defined products as well as support business control and audit requirements.
- Assist in the development and operation of maintenance cost recovery.
- Maintain safe working practices within the department and also in support of the wider safety agenda.
- Support new part introduction development.
- Support the Team in achieving team departmental and individual objectives and KPIs.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Competency in the use of hand gauges inspection equipment and computerised measurement equipment (CMM)
- Experience of working in a lean manufacturing production facility.
- Experience in operating both manual and CNC Lathes manual and CNC Milling Machines and Surface Grinders.
- Experience in using modern manufacturing procedures would be advantageous (3D printing)
- Experience using 3D modelling software (CAD/CAM).
- Team player with the ability to work to high standards.
- Positive can-do attitude and collaborative team ethic.
Position Qualifications:
- A time-served engineering apprenticeship and NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience and qualifications.
Preferred Requirements:
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Competency in the use of hand gauges inspection equipment and computerised measurement equipment (CMM)
- Experience of working in a lean manufacturing production facility.
- Experience in operating a manual lathe milling machine and Surface Grinders.
- Experience in operating & programming 3 axis vmcs and turning centres (Siemens 828d would be advantageous)
- Experience in using modern manufacturing procedures would be advantageous (3D printing)
- Experience using CAD/CAM software would be advantageous (Siemens NX & Hypermill).
- Team player with the ability to work to high standards.
