Job Duties
Virginia Military Institute is accepting on-line applications for a Part-time (1500 hours per year) Assistant Armorer. The successful candidate will assist the Armorer in the maintenance/repair issue turn-in and accountability of all weapons and selected equipment used by the Corps of Cadets.
The Assistant Armorer must:
Be detail oriented capable of researching and interpreting U.S. Army regulations and coordinating with assigned Army personnel to safeguard all weapons
Satisfactorily pass a background investigation and be capable of being bonded
Be capable of standing bending kneeling climbing stairs repeatedly lifting 10-pound rifles to and from rifle racks that are above shoulder height and recovering weapons cards from floor-level for no less than one hour at a time
Possess the manual dexterity hand arm and upper body strength needed to repeatedly pull and lock the charging handles bolts and slides of various weapons to the rear
Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel Word and Outlook.
