Description

We seek a part-time Program Director to provide leadership and oversight for the Paramedic Education Program at our Pontiac campus location. This position ensures the program operates in accordance with accreditation standards established by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Schedule is anticipated to include approximately 15 hours per week.

The Program Director is responsible for maintaining program quality and accreditation supporting student success and coordinating clinical and field education experiences in collaboration with community partners and employers.

General responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:

Program Administration

  • Provide administrative leadership for the planning organization implementation ongoing review and evaluation of the Paramedic Education Program.
  • Monitor program outcomes including student retention certification examination pass rates and graduate job placement; collaborate to implement improvement strategies as needed.
  • Coordinate program meetings and advisory committee engagement with community partners and employers.
  • Prepare submit and maintain accurate accreditation documentation including self-studies annual reports and responses to accreditation findings.

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Collaborate with faculty to evaluate and maintain curriculum that is current evidence-based and aligned with National EMS Education Standards accreditation requirements and applicable local and state regulations.
  • Work with faculty and field internship preceptors to ensure high-quality clinical and field placement opportunities.
  • Ensure appropriate availability supervision and evaluation of students at clinical and field internship sites.
  • Maintain program records in compliance with institutional policies and accreditation requirements.

Student Success and Advising

  • Support program recruitment and retention initiatives including outreach to high schools community partners and career events.
  • Advise students on program requirements course sequencing and policies.
  • Collaborate with faculty to prepare students for licensure examinations and successful transition into the EMS workforce.

Requirements

  1. Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution
  2. Current licensure/certification as a paramedic in good standing
  3. Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a paramedic including:
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in EMS education AND
    • Instructional or administrative experience in an accredited paramedic program
  4. Relevant knowledge of education administration and accreditation principles
  5. Ability to interact effectively and inclusively within a diverse campus community and with external agencies
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to travel to clinical and field sites

Desired Qualifications

  1. Masters degree in education health sciences emergency medical services or related field
  2. Current licensure as an EMS Lead Instructor
  3. Experience managing a CAAHEP-accredited paramedic program
  4. Demonstrated success in program assessment accreditation reporting and outcomes analysis
  5. Experience with budget management and community partnerships
