The Preassembly Lead is responsible for overseeing daily preassembly operations to ensure safe efficient and high-quality production in alignment with Doka standards. This role supervises shop personnel coordinates workflow and resources and ensures compliance with company policies safety regulations and operational procedures. This role will be based in our MidAtlantic branch located in Baltimore MD and will report into our branch Yard Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily preassembly shop activities to ensure efficiency organization and quality output.
- Plan and allocate daily/weekly manpower based on production workload.
- Prioritize and distribute assignments to carpenters according to schedules and deadlines.
- Ensure availability and proper maintenance of tools equipment consumables and materials.
- Inspect completed work to verify accuracy and compliance with Doka quality standards.
- Accurately complete and process build specifications and required documentation.
- Collaborate with the Yard Manager to optimize staffing and resource utilization.
- Implement monitor and enforce Doka operational processes and procedures.
- Supervise train and develop carpentry staff to maintain high performance and craftsmanship standards.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment including proper use of PPE.
- Support employee skill development and cross-training initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies safety standards and business practices.
- Participate in company initiatives committees and improvement projects as assigned.
- Maintain and expand technical knowledge of Doka products and systems.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises preassembly carpenters. Responsible for work allocation training performance feedback and enforcement of safety and company standards.
Qualifications :
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred.
- 35 years of recent supervisory experience in carpentry construction or related field.
Technical Skills:
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to learn new systems products and operational technologies.
Competencies:
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions with limited information.
Work Environment:
This position operates in both warehouse/yard and office environments. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions high noise levels dust and moving equipment is expected.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
- Ability to stand walk bend and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and/or move materials up to 50 pounds (with or without assistance).
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
- Visual ability to inspect finished products and read technical documents.
- Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
