Job Summary
Morning Traffic Anchor / Noon Anchor
WTAE-TV the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh PA is now hiring a Traffic Anchor. This person will also anchor the Noon show on weekdays. We need a good storyteller who has excellent on-air presence and engagement skills. We want someone who can captivate our viewers on social media and a journalist who will grow this position. You will report to the News Director.
Responsibilities
- Prepare morning reports with graphics
- News gather for traffic reports
- Provide concise live traffic reports for morning show
- Research and report up-to-the-minute traffic conditions
- Communicate important traffic information to the show producers and show anchors promptly
- Make sure that corresponding graphics video and live shots are used accurately
- Communicate morning traffic information to viewers through digital platforms including our station website mobile app and social media pages
- Produce transportation related stories and present traffic information in the field
- Anchor the weekday Noon newscasts
Requirements
- Professional or college experience as a journalist and storyteller in a commercial television station
- Experience using traffic systems preferred
- Suited to ad-lib in breaking news situations
- Clear speech basic knowledge of how to use a computer and basic knowledge of social media
- Familiar with street and highway names and directions; quick to learn
- Must be creative and work well with others
- Related military experience will be considered
