Provides support for patients with resupplying DME for CPAP program and assisting respiratory therapist when needed with setups. Provides insurance precertifications for DME.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Verifies insurance for CPAP supplies and DME when needed.
2. Takes care of patients in need of CPAP supplies drop ships supplies to patients.
3. Assists in CPAP setups when needed.
4. Serves as a communication liaison between patients and physicians.
5. Assists in Quality Improvement activities as they relate to the CPAP program.
6. Maintains familiarity with DME equipment and technical training in the use of equipment pertinent to area.
7. Assists coordinator with direct patient care in the Sleep Center which includes assessment problem identification planning implementation and evaluation.
8. When assisting coordinator follows physicians written and verbal orders which may include CPAP bilevel and heated humidification therapy in a safe and timely manner.
9. Implements and documents patient/family teaching as part of the plan of care.
10. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions unsafe conditions or employee/patient/visitor injury- accident to Coordinator.
11. Assists coordinator with inventories of DME supplies.
