PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 27600 - 33900 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

The BBC East Midlands region covers the biggest and best stories from the counties of Nottinghamshire Derbyshire - including vast parts of the Peak District - Leicestershire and Rutland. We are a multi-platform newsroom with an approach that prioritises digital first and seek to achieve maximum impact across radio online and TV.
The role primarily involves newsreading but as a multi-platform journalist in the East Midlands you will be asked to tell stories across radio online TV and social media. On the newsreading side you would be the voice of news in Derby home to one of the BBCs most successful local radio stations. You will also be part of the local story team in Derby which places high emphasis on cross-platform working creativity and ensuring your content has as high an impact across the BBC as it possibly can.
You will be a self-starter as comfortable working on your own as you are in a team able to make editorial decisions quickly. Some weekend working will also be required.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Very strong on-air voice and engaging personality
Good news judgement and understanding of editorial guidelines
Excellent writing that translates well for radio online and TV
Track record of generating ideas for news programmes and services
Good understanding of BBC Local priorities for audience growth
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Knowledge of the editorial area
Full driving licence
