The Opportunity
Were seeking a passionate Middle School English Teacher who loves literature writing and mentoring young adolescents. You will inspire students to read deeply write powerfully speak confidently and integrate a Christian worldview as they explore classic and contemporary texts.
What Youll Do
- Teach middle school English (ELA) courses (grade level and/or Honors sections).
- Design engaging standards-aligned units that develop close reading rhetoric composition and research skills.
- Use workshop routines Socratic seminars and inquiry-based discussions to build voice and agency.
- Provide timely actionable feedback on writing through drafting conferencing and revision cycles.
- Differentiate instruction for diverse learners and collaborate on supports
- Integrate purposeful technology (e.g. Schoology) to enhance literacy and collaboration
- Contribute to school culture through connect (advisory) clubs events and service-learning.
- Partner with colleagues on vertical alignment common assessments and data-informed instruction.
- Model Christ-like character and intentionally integrate faith with learning by embedding Biblical concepts into lessons.
What You Bring
- As a Christian independent school affiliated with the Churches of Christ Lipscomb Academy seeks faculty who can support and model the schools mission and values. Candidates should be willing to participate in spiritual life activities and mentor students in faith and character.
- Bachelors degree in English English Education or related field.
- Valid Tennessee secondary ELA teaching license (or eligibility within a defined timeline).
- Demonstrated success in improving student writing and reading outcomes in grades 68. Strong classroom management communication and collaboration skills
- Skill in teaching narrative expository argument/persuasive and descriptive writing with clear rubrics and exemplars.
- Capacity for being trained on various school platforms (i.e. Schoology); and formative assessment tools.
