The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the position of Facilities Maintenance Supervisor Career Level 1 (CL1) in the Custodial department at the Augusta include but are not limited to: supervising the custodial staff; establishing work priorities and assignments and scheduling work; completing performance assessments; ensuring staff are properly trained; maintaining a healthy and safe environment; establishing cleanliness standards; inspecting work areas to ensure that campus facilities standards are met; making hiring termination and disciplinary recommendations; managing time in a computerized time-keeping system; responding to a variety of inquiries requests and complaints; ordering supplies; responding to campus emergencies; supervising the custodial care and cleaning of University facilities; assisting with securing campus facilities; reporting needed repairs; floor maintenance; coordinating room set-ups and the moving of furniture; performing snow plowing shoveling and other manual labor; enforcing safety and procedural standards. This position is designated as an essential position requiring the individual to be able to work during periods of inclement weather and/or campus emergencies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum of seven years of custodial or related work experience
  • A valid Class C Maine drivers license and a clean driving record
  • Commercial snow removal experience
  • Ability to establish work priorities and work independently is essential
  • Ability to lift carry and move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work nights and weekends and in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to provide written and oral instructions to others
  • Computer literacy
  • Good organizational and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Five years of experience supervising in a unionized environment
  • Previous custodial maintenance supervisory experience


Working Conditions: This can be a physically demanding position and typically requires: climbingbalancing stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking bending pushingpulling lifting grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions. The successful completion of a pre-employment physical assessment is required.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the ability to work occasional weekends and nights as required.

Wage:$23.61 per hour or the internal transfer rate. This is a regular full-time position.
