Job Summary
Overview
The Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology is hiring an Academic Director & Full-Time Faculty member and is approved by the New York State Education Department and is an ASHA certified program. It offers a 58 credit Masters degree program. Faculty members are involved in teaching scholarly activities and service to the institution and the community.
Responsibilities
In addition to the traditional duties of the full-time faculty listed below the director will:
- Assist the Director/Department Chair with administrative responsibilities including generating reports budget submission admissions coordination scheduling of academic classes/calendar participation in peer reviews and oversight of student issues and files.
- Support program events such as open houses and collaborate with the program recruiter.
- Teach two courses per semester (with release time from one course). Prepare syllabi course outlines and assign texts.
- Advise students maintain completed advisement sheets and submit any remediation forms as appropriate.
- Participate in scholarly activities such as research publications presentation and grant writing.
- Engage in Service by participating in program and University committees and meetings.
- Perform clinical teaching and supervision if applicable to program needs.
- Complete special projects as designated by the Director/Department Chair.
- Assist with the annual report at the end of the academic year and work closely on ASHA reports and state submissions.
- Mentor students on research projects when appropriate.
- Assist in the development of online courses as needed.
- Oversee new program initiatives.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- PhD (preferred) or other doctoral equivalent in Speech Pathology or a related field from an accredited university. ABA will be considered.
- ASHA certification
- Eligibility for State licensure
- Knowledge and experience in Adult Communications and Swallowing Disorders is a plus.
