Job Summary

The Evansville Courier & Press part of the USA TODAY NETWORK is seeking an energetic and passionate reporter to join our team to create impactful sports stories from southwestern emphasize high school sports coverage but also keep up with a pair of mid-major Division I athletic programs in the city. As part of a two-person team this reporter will be expected to cultivate sources from schools big and small across the area to help produce weekly features enterprise and area-wide content. The Courier & Press is one of 10 newspapers owned by Gannett and the USA TODAY Network across Indiana and we collaborate frequently for statewide content and championship coverage. Southern Indiana is competitive in multiple classes at the state level so your work has a chance to be seen beyond the in the southwestern corner of Indiana along the Ohio River Evansville is centrally located among a host of larger Midwest cities all within a three-hour drive including Indianapolis Louisville Nashville and St. Louis. Locally there are multiple museums a year-round zoo plenty of hiking and outdoor options minor-league baseball and hockey as well as a versatile locally-owned food and drink :Create storytelling that accurately informs entertains and engages specific audiences and platforms through the use of toward becoming the communitys leading voice of expertise in high school with the community through storytelling and outreach (social media on camera forums community leadership etc.). Provide thoughtful analysis of complex with editor and content strategist to evaluate whats working and whats not and develop ongoing plans to satisfy audience to provide appropriate elements for stories (i.e. photos videos and graphics).
