The school is seeking a knowledgeable practical and highly organised Art Technician to support the smooth operation of the Art Department. This is a hands-on role that requires a passion for the arts strong organisational skills and the ability to work safely and confidently with specialist equipment and materials.
As an Art Technician you will support teachers in preparing resources setting up workspaces maintaining equipment and ensuring that lessons run efficiently. You will also support students during practical sessions helping them use tools and materials appropriately. This role is suited to someone with experience working in artistic environmentssuch as studios college art rooms or creative workshopsor someone with strong practical/technical skills and a passion for the subject.
You will play a vital part in maintaining the high standards of the department contributing to exhibitions supporting GCSE/A Level projects and ensuring that all creative spaces are safe organised and inspiring for students.
Preparing materials equipment and resources for practical art lessons
Supporting teachers during lessons with demonstrations setup and supervision
Maintaining studios storage rooms and equipment ensuring all materials are safe and well organised
Managing stocks of art supplies and ensuring effective ordering systems
Supporting kiln usage printmaking processes photography equipment and textile resources (training provided if required)
Assisting with the display of student artwork throughout the school
Supporting GCSE and A Level students with practical processes and portfolio preparation
Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed including COSHH compliance
Providing technical support for exhibitions showcases and coursework deadlines
Contributing to the creative culture of the department by maintaining high standards of presentation and organisation
Experience in an Art Department or creative/studio-based environment (desirable)
Strong practical skills across a range of artistic materials and tools
Good organisation time management and ability to prioritise tasks
Knowledge of health and safety protocols within practical environments
Ability to support students and staff with technical processes
Creative adaptable and committed to supporting high-quality Art education
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
