Maintenance Worker (Water Distribution)

Position will be open until filled.

We are currently seeking:

A maintenance worker to join our team and perform unskilled general labor and maintenance work for W/W Collections and Water Distribution in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Operating a variety of specialized equipment and performing general manual labor tasks. Duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills and responds to emergencies as needed.
2. Digging and filling holes and ditches with a shovel around pipes and underground utilities.
3. Operating and maintaining a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
4. Assisting in the repair of leaks; around damaged pipes to prepare for repair clamps.
5. Assisting in installing tap saddles and valves.
6. Assisting in repairs and installing fire hydrants.
7. Cleaning picking up litter trash and debris from grounds.
8. Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. This is an on-call position which can include weekends and holidays.
9. Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:

• Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

• Must possess a valid driver license with a good driving record.
• Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
• The selected applicant will be required to obtain a Class D Water License within one year of hire as condition of employment.

Required Knowledge of:

• City policies and procedures.
• City safety rules and regulations occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Work is performed outdoors.
• Requires constant physical efforts and ability to lift and carry up to 113 pounds.
