Job SummaryThe Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is responsible for the daily management of assigned patients in the NICU (Level III Level IV). Direct patient care responsibilities include establishing plans of care completion of admission history expert physical examinations procedures orders and daily note completion. Other responsibilities include delivery attendance at the Level III NICU sites responding to changes in patient conditions addressing nursing concerns upholding the practice of family centered care/education referrals to sub-specialists and coordination of care related to discharge including follow-up appointments. OR Masters degree graduate of a Masters or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant Advanced Practice RN (CPNP-CNP) focus/specialty (NNP) by Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire. OR National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and certified licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA-C) upon hire. AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon Experience NICU provider experience preferred.
