Job Summary

Seeking a Director of Data Management to work under the direction of the Superintendent of Schools leading the Student Information Office performing data analysis of staff and student enrollment demographic assessment and other data as well as preparing and submitting required reports to local state and federal agencies and supporting and training staff on data analysis applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Performs analysis of school district data including but not limited to: student attendance enrollment demographic and performance data; staffing and other data. The analysis scope may include other data as directed. Pulls vital statistics and district data for the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent.
  • Prepares and submits required reports to local state and federal agencies. These reports include but are not limited to: Student Information Management System (SIMS) Student Course Schedule (SCS) School Attending Children (SAC) Education Personnel Information Management System (EPIMS) Elementary-Secondary Staff Information (EEO-5) School Safety & Discipline Report (SSDR) Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) reports for federal grants as well as other assigned reports.
  • Provides training and support to staff members and administrators on using a variety of applications to collect validate retrieve interpret and analyze data including the BPS data dashboard to collect these pieces of information.
  • Sits on the Instructional Secondary Leadership Team and attends the Administrative Leadership Team.
  • Supports the Instructional Office with setting up the backend of supervision and evaluation on the Districts learning management system.
  • Works collaboratively with the Business Office Human Resources Office Special Education Office EL Office Information Technology Office of Mental Health Nursing Department Food Services Central Office and other school staff to ensure the proper recording validation and reporting of district data. This scope includes the continual documentation and assessment of district data flows and practices to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations to maintain data integrity and to enable process improvement.
  • Serves as central registrar for K-8 students and works to support high school registrar with questions that arise.
  • Manages the enrollment and exit of students and staff within the Information System. Manages information system accounts for new employees and students/families.
  • Works with school-based administration to create schedules and maintain data efficiently for reporting purposes.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and validating data as needed.
  • Supervises staff within the Information Office.
  • Attends professional development to stay abreast of changing requirements new technologies and data needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science math/statistics business/finance demography or a related field.
  • Two years of prior experience with data analysis and/or reporting required. Experience with State and Federal reporting requirements such as EPIMS SIMS and other DESE reporting systems is desirable.
  • Proficiency in standard office software including word processing spreadsheet and database systems preferably Aspen.
  • Attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy and consistency across systems with the capacity to meet frequent and hard deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills in report building data presentation and training.
  • Excellent communications skills for collaboration across various departments including Information Technology Technology Integration Office of Family Engagement Special Education Human Resources school-based administration and Central Office.
  • Ability to deliver superior verbal and written communications and customer service.
  • Supervisory skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate team members.
  • Prior experience in a Massachusetts public school system working with student information systems and school district data analysis/reporting preferred.

COMPENSATION:

In accordance with the BurlingtonSchool Administrators Associationcontract.

This is a12-month position.
