Position Summary:
The Scientific Associate I will work within an exciting new multidisciplinary international research project which seeks to accelerate the early stages of drug discovery. Reporting to the Co-Director of the UHN Collaborative Centre for Drug Discovery the Scientific Associate IV will lead a research team working on affinity selection mass spectrometry (ASMS) and coordinate activities with collaborating research teams in protein science novel compound screening technologies protein interaction characterization medicinal chemistry data science and AI/machine learning. We work closely with academic institutions pharmaceutical companies and technology leaders to develop innovative tools and platforms that make biomedical research faster more collaborative and more impactful. This open science milestone-driven program seeks to revolutionize and democratize drug discovery to advance human health.

Duties:
- Coordinate ASMS logistics: project set-up scheduling of ASMS experiments and workflows involving proteins compounds and reagents from different sources.
- Coordinate flow of data output and ensure prompt and accurate deposition in Project databases.
- Coordinate with peer coordinators in protein production hit characterization and database teams to receive proteins share hit data and upload the data to the AIRCHECK database.
- Ensure details of any detected ASMS hits will be communicated with the hit characterization team for biophysical validations.
- Track ASMS data submissions internally and externally maintain the central database and organise project progress meetings.
- Coordinate with protein production database and hit validation teams to ensure timely feedback to contributors.
- Prepare regular reports KPIs and dashboards for leadership funders and collaborators.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and work with team to implement process improvements.
- Contribute to project planning resource allocation risk management and budgeting.
- Foster collaboration across the global team through leadership problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Qualifications :
- PhD in analytical chemistry biochemistry or relevant scientific field or equivalent combination of education.
- Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated research experience in biochemistry and drug discovery
- Strong expertise and knowledge in molecular biology and mass spectrometry
- Experience preparing manuscripts for submission to peer review publications/journals
- Strong publication record on mass spectrometry analytical chemistry or protein chemistry
- Experience presenting results and conclusions at meetings or conferences
- Excellent research and analysis skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent skills of science communications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness and ability to travel for conferences meetings and site visits.
