Job Summary
In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reports to the Head Plumber or Maintenance Supervisor. The Plumber performs skilled plumbing work at the journeyman level by installing constructing altering repairing maintaining and servicing plumbing systems. May perform preventative maintenance demand maintenance and project work approaching the journeyman trades level on a variety of facility equipment and systems. May supervise designated maintenance staff and/or contractors as assigned. Provides related training and orientation to apprentices and designated staff as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber Class B level Gas Fitters license with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of British Columbia; Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association British Columbia Section. Valid BC Drivers License. Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
