Job Summary:
The purpose of the Yarn Packer is to wrap or box all yarn in a manner which protects yarn packages from contamination.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Make sure that any buggies of yarn from all shifts have the lot number Tufting order number and cone count.
- Compare yarn package labels against pack out label to ensure that the right yarn lot is being processed.
- Wrap or box all yarn in a manner which protects yarn packages from contamination.
- When transporting yarn cases keep cases fully in squeeze attachment.
- Make sure work area remains clean at all times.
- Sweep floor around pack out station daily.
- Keep debris that could cause a slip trip or fall out of the floor.
Performance Expectations (if applicable):
- Lifting is required of cones of yarn weighing 10 to 12 pounds 90% of the shift.
- Standing is required 75% of shift for 20 to 30 minute intervals.
- Reaching is required for cones of yarn 90% of the shift.
- Stooping is required occasionally for 10 to 20 second intervals.
- Bending is required to pack yarn for 40 to 50% of the shift.
- Must be able to operate a lift truck.
- Must be able to distinguish color and shade differences.
Experience/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be able to do basic addition subtraction division and multiplication.
Other Requirements:
- Overtime is required on occasion.
- Must be able to identify yarn types on sight.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- All accidents must be reported immediately.
