Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for routine duties in the hospital pharmacy including the preparation and distribution of medications and related clerical functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and distribute medications under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist which may include non-hazardous and hazardous sterile compounding
2. Procure and receive medications
3. Perform clerical functions related to the preparation distribution procurement and receipt of medications
4. Assure proper storage conditions for medications and manage inventory to maintain in-date product
5. Perform all other related duties as assigned
Education Training or Degree Required:
Completion of MN Board of Pharmacy-accepted pharmacy technician training program or willingness to complete training on site within 12 months of hire.
Ongoing continuing education per MN Board of Pharmacy requirements
License/Registration/Certification Required:
Willing to be registered as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy upon hire if not already registered.
Pharmacy Technician certification by national certification board(s)
Experience and Skills: (indicate preferred or required)
1. Pharmacy or medical experience preferred
2. Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and precision required
3. Ability to learn new computer system and technology required
