POSITION SUMMARY
Barton Malow is seeking a Superintendent to support an automotive construction project in Auburn Hills MI. This individual will be responsible for working on-site full-time and collaborating closely with project staff trade partners and the client to ensure successful project delivery.
The Superintendent will oversee field operations evaluate project performance assess site conditions ensure compliance with project scopes and manage trade partners to achieve schedule safety quality and budget objectives within an active automotive manufacturing environment.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in developing work scopes and front-end documents for bidding to ensure clarity; participate in the bid process including post-bid interviews and responding to bidder questions; identify qualified contractors based on project requirements.
- Enforce corporate safety policies on the job site including pre-task safety planning and lead field safety compliance efforts within an active automotive facility.
- Organize and manage day-to-day on-site labor forces supervising and coordinating contractor work to minimize interference with ongoing plant operations.
- Support the Project Manager in budget management and forecasting by controlling costs and monitoring potential contractor changes.
- Develop site logistics plans that maximize productivity while minimizing disruption to facility operations and stakeholders.
- Establish and implement the project baseline schedule incorporating subcontractor input and accounting for operational constraints and production schedules.
- Lead planning efforts and provide progress reports including six-week look-ahead schedules to Project Managers and field staff.
- Communicate daily issues events performance updates and progress to Project Managers while fostering strong relationships with clients team members subcontractors and facility representatives.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION EXPERIENCE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelors degree in construction management engineering or related field preferred.
- 10 years of relevant commercial or industrial construction experience; automotive manufacturing project experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in active manufacturing or mission-critical environments.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with strong knowledge of applicable contracts and legal provisions.
- Ability to manage and adapt to change in a fast-paced production-driven environment.
- Capable of multitasking and balancing competing priorities while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Proven ability to effectively manage trade partner performance to meet Barton Malows high-quality standards.
- Strong sense of urgency with the ability to quickly assess and resolve complex field issues effectively and fairly.
- Team-oriented leader with excellent diplomatic and communication skills capable of resolving conflicts constructively.
