Reports to: General Manager / Owner
Role Purpose
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in restoring financial discipline strengthening internal controls and improving profitability within a growing but financially strained hospitality estate. This is not a routine accounting position. The role requires a commercially minded firm and highly ethical professional who can eliminate financial leakages strengthen reporting systems improve cost controls and provide clear financial insights for strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts (P&L Balance Sheet Cash Flow).
- Produce weekly performance reports and variance analysis.
- Monitor departmental expenses and enforce budget discipline.
- Identify and eliminate financial leakages and inefficiencies.
- Strengthen internal controls and approval systems.
- Ensure compliance with Malawi tax regulations and statutory requirements.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Monitor cash flow and manage receivables/payables effectively.
- Support operational managers with financial insights and training.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- ACCA CIMA or CA qualification (or finalist) preferred.
- 58 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in hospitality retail or service industries desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Malawi tax and regulatory environment.
