Middleware Integration Specialist & SRE - Full Time Consultant Montreal/ Requirement Middleware Integration Specialist & SRE for their Application and Data Engineering (ADE) team.
ADE provides application and platform engineering conforming to Morgan Stanley security blueprints with a focus on performance reliability and scalability. By understanding the technical requirements from application owners and the business ADE participates in the technical evaluation of vendors and vendor/open-source technologies and conducts proof of concepts software packaging deployment and automation of middleware products.
The team also supports strategic initiatives like cloud migration application modernization Al enablement and SRE.
To succeed in this role the candidate will need to partner closely with central technology teams like Infrastructure Security Network Database and procurement to design and deliver solutions. The team leverages a variety of tools for platform design and application troubleshooting as they also provide elevated level 4 production support to the application operations teams.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:.
Apply technical skills to design build and automate middleware platforms both on-premises and cloud.
Partner with other groups in Morgan Stanley such as Enterprise Infrastructure MIS Networking
Security Storage Database and Data Center teams to roll out technology platforms successfully as per best practices.
Coordinate signoffs for non-functional requirement testing with development and business teams.
Maintain a 360-degree view of applications and their underlying middleware and infrastructure
components.
Produce reusable infrastructure and middleware designs patterns for future reference and refresh
existing ones on a regular basis.
Support vendor/vendor technology onboarding following Morgan Stanley best practices and security
blueprints.
Adopt build and rollout new technology stacks for NFRT for cloud-based and on-prem applications.
Automate daily support functions improve system stability support hygiene initiatives and deliver
innovation that creates efficiency and consistency.
Required Skills
Strong infrastructure knowledge in Linux / Unix Storage and Networking
Hands-on experience with load balancers web servers (Apache / Nginx) application servers (Tomcat) to
include application integration configuration and troubleshooting.
Expert level scripting skills using Python (mandatory) and Shell
Familiar with IT Automation & Config Management tools (Ansible/Helm).
Experience with source control and continuous integration / continuous delivery pipelines (Jenkins
Artifactory Flux)
Familiar with security hardening concepts for hosting applications or middleware including transport
encryption modern single sign-on authentication and authorization mechanisms
Basic operational knowledge of RDBMS and SQL.
Prior experience managing large web-based n-tier applications in secure environments on cloud
Desired / Nice to have skills
Hands-on experience with graph databases (GraphDB Stardog Neptune) and knowledge of SPARQL query language.
Familiarity with Kafka Redis Airflow
Prior experience managing large web-based n-tier applications in secure environments on cloud
Exposure and experience in open-source Observability tools (e.g. Grafana Prometheus Open Telemetry and Loki)
Identity management protocols like OIDC / OAuth SAML LDAP integration
Exposure to Big Data platforms like Hadoop/ ELK Stack
A system architecture / developer work experience
Experience

Prior experience of working in a global financial organization is an advantage
Experience (Years): 4-6 Essential Skills: Work with project teams throughout the organization to design implement and manage CDN infrastructure using Akamai to ensure high availability performance and scalability for customer facing applications and business processes. Handle multiple priorities and assignments with excellence and precision. Be a part of a 24/7/365 organization (some after hours support is expected as part of normal on-call rotation). Directly support line of business development teams provide guidance to them on implementation and changes for customer facing applications Develop and maintain security protocols and measures to protect CDN infrastructure from cyber threats. Monitor and analyze network performance identifying and resolving issues to optimize content delivery of critical applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Akamai CDN solutions with existing systems and applications. Collaborate with information security teams to implement DDoS protection strategies and other security measures in the CDN. Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams regarding CDN and security best practices. Work closely with vendor and professional service teams on delivery related activities and strategy. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field. OR similar work experience. Strong understanding of network protocols (HTTP/HTTPS DNS TCP/IP). Proven experience as a CDN Engineer or similar role with a strong focus on -depth knowledge of Content Delivery Network technologies including caching load balancing and content optimization. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Experience supporting 24/7/365 customer facing applications at enterprise scale. Awareness and experience with cybersecurity tools and practices such as firewalls intrusion detection/prevention systems and encryption. Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Python Bash) a plus. Relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP CEH) are a plus but not required.
