The Advanced Cell Technologies Screening and Sequencing (ACTS) group in Discovery Neuroscience in Cambridge MA is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our team. This position is responsible for performing molecular biological research focused on target identification and validation supporting early drug discovery efforts for neurodegenerative diseases and neuropsychiatric disorders. The ideal candidate will be collaborative productive and have strong hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to support multiple neuroscience pipeline projects that require both molecular and transcriptomic validation as well as target identification for the exploratory projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and assist with advanced molecular biology techniques including gene expression analysis and next-generation sequencing for target identification and validation research.
- Collaborate with colleagues at various AbbVie and external sites
- Analyze and summarize data and participate in the interpretation of results.
- Communicate with colleagues to discuss projects and experiment status and results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and manage supplies.
- Develop scientific and technical proficiency as necessary for project completion
Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Molecular Biology Cell Biology Neuroscience or related field with typically 3 or more years experience or Masters Degree (no additional experience)
- Strong skillset in molecular biology techniques (RNA/DNA isolation and QC).
- Experience with medium-throughput screening (qPCR and ddPCR).
- Experience with next-generation sequencing (bulk RNA-seq and sc/snRNA-seq)
- Ability to independently execute and analyze experiments and troubleshoot technical challenges
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated laboratory system (KingFisher Flex and Biomek i7 workstation).
- Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams and in external collaboration.
