Job Summary
Summary of Duties
The main functions of the RN include but are not limited to:
Pre- and post-operative assessment of patients undergoing arrhythmia device implants intra-operative support during ICD pacemaker and ILR implants device interrogation and programming of in and out patients in clinic setting
This role requires wearing a lead apron during device implantation procedure
The RN supports the philosophy of Person-Centred Care as well as the principles mission and values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
The RN works closely with other members of the interprofessional team
Qualifications/Skills
Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current BCLS certificate
Current ACLS certification an asset
Critical Care or Coronary Care experience preferred
Previous experience with cardiac arrhythmia management and associated devices preferred
Previous Cath Lab experience preferred
Previous patient/staff education experience preferred
Demonstrate knowledge of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators
Demonstrate commitment to continued education
Ability to adapt to a fast-changing and stressful environment in a positive manner
Demonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; priority setting skills; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolution & time management
