Summary of Responsibilities:
The line cook will play a critical role in preparing quality dishes efficiently in a fast-paced full-service restaurant. You must be able to work well under pressure pay close attention to detail and have a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Good communication and teamwork skills are also essential for success in this role.
Primary Responsibilities and Objectives:
Prepare a variety of food items using various cooking methods ingredients equipment and procedures
Consistently adhere to standardized portion sizes quality standards kitchen guidelines and standard operating procedures
Set up stock and maintain assigned stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients ensuring freshness and quality standards are met
Follow recipes and ensure food items are prepared following proper timing standards
Follow proper plate presentation and garnishment standards for all dishes
Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation reach-in cooler and walk-in cooler
Check food temperatures before serving
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED is preferred
One year related experience and/or training is required
Ability to read and comprehend English
Current food handler card is required
Skills and Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
Must be able to work in an environment that requires physical activity under time constraints
Must be able to work with all products and food ingredients used in the kitchen
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing Diversity and Inclusion Training within the first 30 days of employment
Scheduling:
Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working outside of business hours weekends and non-traditional holidays
May be required to be on-call and aid during times of high demand
Environment:
Exposure to an environment typically found in a hotel or restaurant
