Responsible for Respiratory Care operations and staffing. Promotes interdepartmental relations / teamwork through participation in patient care rounds with physicians nursing pharmacy etc. Based on site location may work as part of staff if necessary. Collaborates on development of patient care plans. This may include patient care variance review and follow-up. Participation /membership on unit specific patient care or QA committees and process improvement initiatives (hospital-wide committees when appropriate). Assists in interviewing responsible for orientation of new hires. Evaluates respiratory staff development through department specific check offs. Provide in service/education for nursing and resident physicians upon request. Provides direct patient/family education. May serve as a clinical instructor for respiratory therapy students. Provides investigation and follow-up on safety pause events. Participates in ongoing growth and development which may include personal competencies through classes seminar attendance literature reviews; assists with policy and procedure development and review. Evaluates new equipment evaluation and general equipment maintenance. Input on capital equipment needs.
