Carnegie Mellon Universitys department of Computing Services is searching for a Network Operations Engineer. This is an excellent opportunityfor someone whothrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You willcontributeto the department by providing essential support by being responsible for deployment configuration maintenance and monitoring of LAN and WAN networks.
Core Responsibilities:
Monitor and ensure the security and reliability of network infrastructure.
Collect and analyze data to evaluate network performance diagnose issues and define user and system requirements.
Deploy configure manage and monitor Wireless LAN and WAN environments including routing switching DNS DHCP 802.11 wireless LANs TCP/IP Ethernet SNMP and VPN technologies.
Maintain accurate and current network documentation.
Provide tier 3 support for complex network issues performing advanced troubleshooting and implementing effective solutions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
13 years of experience in network administration and/or network security administration.
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification highly desired.
Experience and/or certification with Cisco Systems or Aruba Networks wireless infrastructure preferred; other wireless vendor experience also valued.
