Overview
Position Summary
In this role you will be responsible for supporting the nutritional health and well-being of residents by assisting with meal planning therapeutic diets and food service operations. Working alongside the rest of the dining department the Dietetic Technician helps ensure residents receive safe nutritious and enjoyable meals that meet medical cultural and personal dietary needs.
This role involves monitoring residents nutritional status documenting dietary intake providing basic nutrition education and collaborating with healthcare and culinary teams to support overall resident care. The Dietetic Technician also helps ensure compliance with food safety regulations and community policies.
Essential Functions Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with filling out and completing all required paperwork according to professional and federal guidelines in accordance with community policies within the specified time frame.
- Reinforce diet education provided by the department leadership team.
- Provide diet information to the residents family members and other associates as needed.
- Communicate incidental and significant changes with nutrition interventions and status of the residents as needed.
- Meet with all new residents visiting and observing each resident a minimum of once every 90 days.
- Perform weekly conduct meal observations on various units.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism with the Dining Services associates Physicians and other direct and indirect care associates.
- Assist dining leadership team in planning and executing menus and nutrition updates.
- Lead in-service/training and National Nutrition Month activities within the community.
- Assist in designing and implementing new or revised nutrition assessments or interventions to ensure quality nutritional support for residents.
- Represent the Dining Services department at the scheduled Resident Care Conferences as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.
Position Requirements
Education: Associates degree in Nutrition/Dietetics required; Bachelors degree in Nutrition/Dietetics preferred
Licenses/Certifications: Active dietetic technician license/certification preferred
Experience: 1 years in clinical nutrition or senior living dining
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Warm demeanor and bedside manner
