Job Summary:

The Department of Residence Life is accepting applications for a Residence Life Coordinator opening!

Our Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) oversee residential communities with an average of 580 residents assigned to them and supervise an average of 15 House Fellows (RAs). Theyre charged with creating inclusive communities in the residence halls through supporting residents in crisis mediating interpersonal conflicts guiding and assessing student learning and community development and holding students accountable through an educational conduct process. Most RLCs collaborate with faculty and academic staff in one or more learning or theme communities.

We are committed to promoting balance and preventing burnout and have developed our departmental culture and staffing structure accordingly. RLCs are on-call an average of 7 weeks per year dont need to request weekends away and are encouraged to use their generous leave time balances. We promote continued learning and development in all our staff through supporting on-campus professional development opportunities conference attendance and participation in professional organizations.

Work Schedule:

  • Primary schedule for this position is daytime business hours 7:45am - 4:30pm with some evenings and weekends as needed plus on-call duty response.
  • Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives and responds to crisis and student conduct situations according to established policies and procedures
  • Supports divisional and campus programs over the summer which may include summer housing Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) summer conferences Marketing Assignments pre-college programs etc.
  • May supervise the day-to-day activities of students and/or professional staff and assist with the personnel management allocation plan including hiring training supervision and evaluation
  • Plans implements and evaluates student programs and initiatives for residence life
  • Serves as a main point of contact for resident support providing mediation and resolution of personal and facility issues

Education:

Masters degree by start date required. Preference will be given to candidates with a masters degree in Student Affairs Counseling Higher Education College Student Personnel or a related field with relevant work experience.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time twelve-month live-in academic staff professional appointment. The minimum starting annual salary is $47840. Confirmation of degree (unofficial transcripts) are required of all finalists.

University Housing offers a pet policy for professional Residence Life staff that reside in a residence hall apartment. This policy includes an allowance for cats and dogs contingent upon adherence to related guidelines and expectations.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable selected candidate will be required to pass an initial criminal background check to be eligible for employment and then every four years thereafter.
