We invite applications for a PhD position at Eindhoven University of Technology The Netherlands in the field of theoretical and computational biophysics. The successful candidate will work on theory and simulation of complex biological systems. Starting date is September 2026 with some flexibility depending on the candidates availability.
The project will focus on the development and application of coarse-grained computer simulations and continuum theory to understand the physics of remodeling and growth of cellular fluid lipid particular the project will focus on the effect of curvature and deformations on the stability of double membrane systems such as the nuclear envelope. The project will involve collaboration with experimental colleagues in biophysics and cell biology.
The PhD project will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Felix Frey in the new Physics of Living Matter group which is part of the Soft Matter and Biological Physics division at the Department of Applied Physics and Science Education at Eindhoven University of Technology.
We are looking for a motivated candidate with a masters degree (or equivalent) in Physics Biophysics Chemistry Materials Science Mechanical Engineering or a related subject with interest in computational and theoretical work on biological systems. Ideally the candidate has already experience with programming.
