Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Electrical Technician position requires Industrial Electrical/PLC experience in the industry with the knowledge of motors industrial wiring electro-mechanical drives PLC application software/hardware and servo motion control applications.

This position also requires excellent troubleshooting and communication skills and the ability to effectively participate in a team-oriented work environment.

Program and troubleshoot I/O blocks sensors vision systems barcode readers primarily Allen-Bradley & Siemens PLCs/HMIs servos & servo drives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test electrical system and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring equipment and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters voltmeters and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

  • Inspect and test instrumentation devices electrical systems wiring power systems and controls to identify hazards defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes. Troubleshoot and program Allen Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs. The candidate will have experience working with HMIs SCADA and setting up Inputs / Outputs or (I/Os).

  • Repairing and performing planned maintenance on assigned electronic electrical pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems soft start equipment Vfds pumps valves etc.

  • Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.

  • 5 years of experience with programming maintenance troubleshooting and/or commissioning of automated equipment.

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting/maintaining mechanical equipment within a manufacturing facility.

  • Capability to program from scratch if necessary including PLC troubleshooting preventive maintenance and robotics.

  • Minimum 5 years electrical/mechanical technician experience supporting the testing calibration repair and maintenance of systems required.

Education & Certifications:

  • Journeyperson electrical ticket or a Red Seal endorsement

  • Written Communication Support the writing of basic procedures in a clear concise organized and convincing manner for the intended audience.

  • Troubleshooting/Diagnosis Assess reported workplace issues and deviations following a structured approach. Ensure that decisions are made based on policies rules and organizational directives and solving the emerging problems.

  • Mechanical Aptitude Understand basic physical principles quickly and apply them to various scenarios.

  • Coordinate Initiatives Bring different subject matter experts together to share ideas create action plans and coordinates task execution. Seeking to continuously improve the way we work and look for new and unique approaches and ideas to achieve better outcomes.

  • Observation and Memory Observe processes or people carefully to gain qualitative information. Recollect information from observations training and previous experiences.

  • Critical Thinking Execute 5-Why to identify underlying reasons for observations and proposed solutions. Separate facts from opinions.

Key Relationships:

  • Interacts daily with maintenance supervisor manager) and maintenance journeypersons. Regular interactions with other front-line leaders in the plant.

Working Conditions:

  • Mostly work indoors in manufacturing environment with long periods of standing/walking.

  • Employee may experience progressive degrees of changing factors in the work process (changing work priorities deadlines accuracy quotas conflicting demands)

  • Employee may be exposed to a moderate level of hazards in the work environment such as chemicals commercial products exposure to potential toxins moving machinery repetitive motion excessive noise powered industrial vehicle fork/reach/ bucket lift/other.

  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.

  • Employee may be required to perform a moderate level of specific tasks such as lifting up to 35 lbs muscular action body movements working positions posture changes visual attentiveness.

  • Employee will be required to wear protective eyewear reflective safety clothing appropriate gloves hearing protection respiratory protection safety shoes hard hat and/or other.
