THE ROLE

The role of Team Leader AOD and Justice is to:

Assist GAC clients to overcome various identified Alcohol & Other Drug issues. This assistance is based upon a harm minimisation approach involving health promotion education developing and maintenance of Aboriginal community linkages referral support and counselling.

The Team Leader:

Partners the client in their individual treatment journey and in conjunction with the above provides appropriate flexible support.

Manages the day-to-day operational requirements work distribution and outputs of Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Program services in compliance with legislative regulatory and funding guidelines and GAC policies and procedures.

Has a small case load to be determined with the advice from the Manager.

Is responsible for building effective teams through the engagement supervision and development of employees within the relevant Programs / Services.

Is responsible for the implementation of the Harm Minimisation program.

THE IDEAL PERSON FOR THIS ROLE

Essential

A relevant tertiary qualification in social work community development and/or demonstrated experience in the provision of casework services in the health or welfare sector.

Relevant experience in a human services welfare or social services role.

Proven experience in leading and developing a diverse engaged and cross-functional workforce focused on delivery of client outcomes.

Demonstrated staff supervision and leadership skills and ability to deal with challenging clients and complex issues.

Program management and community development experience.

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability to liaise with and support the local Community.

Demonstrated capability to meet the key responsibilities of this position.

Clear ability to undertake research analyse & comprehend reasonably complex documents write reports and undertake a variety of administrative processes.

Desirable

Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

Experience working with Aboriginal persons experiencing AOD issues.

Sound knowledge of Cultural Safety in practice and a willingness to learn.
