An opportunity has arisen for a River Temperature and Groundwater Officer based in our Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire Hydrometry & Telemetry (H&T) team providing support to the Natural Capital Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) project. We are looking for an individual with an understanding of the H&T network to assist in the planning delivery process and installation of monitoring equipment across Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire.

You may be required to travel outside this area as part of this role to support the roll out across England.

Key tasks will include:

  • Assessment of hydrometric site suitability for sensor installation following NCEA programme guidance.
  • Develop specifications of work and overseeing installation by internal/external contractors.
  • Undertake routine maintenance and calibration of river temperature sensors.
  • This role is a combination of field and office work therefore you must have a willingness to work outside often in demanding weather conditions all year round.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated well organised and be able to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders and partners. The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team is key to this role.

Incident response remains a top priority for the Environment Agency. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role
