Facility/Unit: Samaritan Medical Center Laboratory
Shift: Days (5:30 AM or 6:00 AM start)
Hours: 8-hour shifts (facility standard)
Schedule: 13-week contract
Pay Rate: $57.62/hr
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Histotechnician to support pathology services in a busy acute care hospital environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing embedding cutting and staining surgical and autopsy tissues while ensuring specimen integrity and quality standards. This role requires strong technical expertise and adherence to laboratory policies and procedures.
Responsibilities -
Perform tissue processing embedding microtomy and staining

Prepare cytopathology specimens for pathologist review

Ensure proper handling and management of patient tissue samples

Prepare high-quality microscopic sections for diagnosis
-
Perform specialized staining techniques as required

Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
-
Participate in Quality Assurance programs

Follow all laboratory safety and compliance standards

Document procedures accurately per facility protocol
Requirements -
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology Biology or Chemistry OR HTL certification from a recognized agency

Required: Histotechnician AAS New York State license

Minimum required histology experience in hospital setting

Strong knowledge of tissue processing and staining techniques

RTO must be included at time of submission

Must meet 100-mile radius rule
