Under the supervision of the Director of Residential Life the Area Coordinator (AC) is a live-in professional who oversees the daily operations and leadership of their assigned area. The incumbent responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas: Lead to Residential Life Coordinators (SSPII) Resident Assistants (RAs) and Student Assistants (SAs); case coordination centering around student behavior residential curriculum and community development; and administrative components. The AC also takes responsibility for one of the primary/core tasks of the department (e.g. recruitment training RHA operations DEI etc.). The incumbent assists in the overall development and implementation of the Housing & Residential Life operations including the coordination of the residential life staff programs services and facilities of the program.
The incumbent provides services that are equitable inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life retention and graduation rate. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Earned or equivalent to a bachelors degree and at least three years experience in higher ed student housing or related field
Masters degree in Student Development Higher Education Counseling Clinical Psychology Social Work or a directly related field highly preferred.
Valid CA Driver License required.
Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
