Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English History Mathematics and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12.

The Opportunity:

The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School seeks an English Language Arts Teacher Grades 9-12 to join our caring and innovative community. The successful candidate will have experience planning implementing and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. S/he will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of our school community. Moreover s/he will be fully committed to continuously learning improving reflecting and working together to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with all team members including but not limited to special educators instructional coaches paraprofessionals interventionists and other support personnel.
  • Assess students regularly and refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.
  • Integrate social learning into the classroom and work to foster a safe caring and active learning community.
  • Partner with families and include them in the students learning and development as well as encourage families to further the mission of the school.
  • Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations.
  • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student will pursue a dignified next step.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with Massachusetts State Standards and CRLS Instructional Guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families and involve families as partners in their childs education.
  • Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs and improve instructional practices throughout the school.

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming English Language Arts Teacher you will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • Two or more years of English Language Arts teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Experience leading instruction in urban school settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Common Core/MA Curriculum Framework for English Language Arts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree strongly preferred.
  • Massachusetts Teacher Certification in 9-12 English Language Arts is required.
  • A strong work ethic alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel.
