Purpose

As part of the Worley Graduate Community and under the guidance of experienced mechanical engineers the Graduate Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) supports the delivery of safe high-quality mechanical engineering services to Worley and its customers. This role provides structured mentorship hands-on project exposure and a strong technical foundation to support professional development toward registration as a Professional Engineer (.).

The Graduate Mechanical EIT will gain exposure to a broad range of mechanical engineering activities across industrial energy and resource sectors building core technical skills while developing professional engineering competencies in a collaborative project-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley client and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements on time and within budget.

  • You will support the mechanical engineering team by assisting with:

    • Equipment data sheets and specifications

    • Mechanical calculations and sizing (e.g. pressure vessels piping components basic rotating equipment selections)

    • Technical reports and design documentation

  • Supporting the development of mechanical designs under supervision including layouts equipment arrangements and design packages.

  • Assisting with engineering studies technical evaluations and design reviews.

  • Participating in interdisciplinary design coordination with piping process electrical instrumentation structural and project controls teams.

  • Supporting procurement activities by assisting with technical bid evaluations vendor document reviews and technical clarifications.

  • Supporting construction and commissioning activities by assisting with field queries site support and engineering close-out documentation.

  • Identifying technical issues proposing preliminary solutions and escalating items appropriately to senior engineers.

  • Maintaining strong awareness of health safety and environmental (HSE) requirements and contributing to Worleys safety culture.

  • Participating in Worleys graduate development program including technical training mentorship and professional development activities.

What You Will Bring

Technical & Industry Experience

  • Co-op internship or vacation student experience in an engineering manufacturing construction or industrial environment is considered an asset.

  • Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including:

    • Thermodynamics

    • Fluid mechanics

    • Heat transfer

    • Strength of materials and basic machine design

  • Developing familiarity with mechanical engineering tools and software (e.g. SolidWorks AutoCAD Inventor ANSYS or similar).

  • Basic proficiency with common productivity tools (e.g. MS Office Suite).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn in a project-driven consulting environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Education Qualifications & Training

Required:

  • A recognized and relevant Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) that is eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and progression toward Professional Engineer (.) status.

Preferred:

  • Eligibility or intent to register with the applicable provincial engineering association (e.g. APEGA EGBC PEO).
