Business Development 16: Salaries typically range from $74297 to $99063 annually based on qualifications and experiences plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment currently requiring employees to work in the office2days per week.(subject to change)
This role can be performed from EDCs headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs in Toronto Mississauga Montreal Brossard Laval Calgary Vancouver or Halifax.
Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team & Job Overview
The Small Business National Accounts (SBNA) team part of EDCs Inbound Sales and Service group empowers Canadian micro and small businesses nationwide. Through a collaborative skills-based approach our Account Managers Customer Care and Exporter Engagement teams deliver exceptional client experiences through personalized navigational guidance and tailored export solutions.
SBNA manages relationships with small business exporters and their financial institution partners facilitating access to EDCs financial and knowledge solutions. Operating as a virtual business development team we collaborate across EDC and with Canadian financial institutions to drive client retention satisfaction and new business growth. With a focus on operational excellence inclusive trade and scalable support SBNA continually refines its approach to meet the evolving needs of Canadian exporters and of EDCs customer strategy.
The SBNA team is looking for 3 self-motivated organized service-oriented Account Managers for our Portfolio & Pooled Account Management teams. The successful candidates will be responsible for managing maintaining and growing large portfolios of Canadian customers and prospects in the small business segment while closely collaborating with key financial institution partners. The successful candidates will achieve this by qualifying prospects as potential EDC clients maximizing retention of current customers through cross-selling and customer engagement strategies and closely collaborating with other business development and underwriting teams to provide predictable product solutions and service delivery to our addition you will raise awareness of EDCs working capital solutions through regular contacts with financial institutions and other financial intermediaries in the market.
What you will be doing:
Portfolio Account Managers manage a portfolio of approximately 150 200 small business clients. They respond to client inquiries while identifying cross-selling opportunities across EDCs suite of risk management and working capital solutions to support clients export growth.
Pooled Account Managers jointly manage a portfolio of approximately 900 clients. They focus on maximizing retention and customer satisfaction by executing strategies targeting existing small business credit insurance clients.
Qualifies inbound inquiries from small business prospects and financial partners to identify new potential business development opportunities assess working capital challenges and risk management needs and position value-added solutions.
Acts as a trusted resource and problem solver for prospects and clients managing internal and external interactions professionally and working toward positive outcomes for clients and partners.
Builds monitors and advances an individual sales pipeline to achieve personal KPIs and contribute to team targets.
Plans and manages time effectively while balancing competing demands across a large portfolio of customers.
Collaborates closely with external partners and internal risk teams to navigate customer transactions through EDCs underwriting processes.
Contributes to team success by executing projects initiatives and tasks beyond portfolio management responsibilities.
Identifies and shares trends market intelligence and examples of EDCs customer impact through ongoing interactions with clients partners and prospects.
Demonstrates a positive team-oriented mindset aligned the teams mandate to help Canadian small businesses grow and succeed internationally.
What we are looking for:
Bilingualism strong proficiency to communicate in both French & English.
Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration Finance Commerce or other relevant disciplines;
Minimum of 2 years of experience in business development commercial lending international business financial services risk analysis / underwriting;
Knowledge of best practices in strategic sales and/or account management.
What will make you stand out:
Business development experience in commercial banking;
Knowledge of bank credit and lending practices;
Knowledge of international business practices and international trade;
Good knowledge of EDCs financial solutions;
MBA or CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) designation.
