- Bachelors Degree in Business Human Services Recreation Social Sciences or a related discipline
- Minimum 7 years progressively responsible experience in a leadership role within a large complex unionized organization including grant/funding administration
- Experience in strategic/business planning grant administration financial management and community development
Assets:
- Certification or coursework/training in financial management public administration change management project management continuous improvement or other leadership training
- Knowledge and skills working with the social services and not for profit sector
- Experience with community/social development (in particular work with equity-deserving communities and non-profit organizations)

The Manager Community Funding Strategies is a vital leadership position reporting to the Director Community Investment with a mandate to create meaningful impact for Edmontonians through strategic grant and funding programs for community organizations.
You will oversee a diverse team responsible for community investment improving citizen well-being and strengthening the not-for-profit sector ensuring robust funding programs deliver positive outcomes with strong accountability. This role is crucial for providing strategic vision and guidance leading the development of investment strategies managing policies and business systems and applying data to inform decision-making. Success in this role requires expert grants administration knowledge proven leadership experience experience in the not for profit sector and strong political and strategic acumen to advance the vision of the Social Development Branch and the City Plan.
What will you do
- Assisting the Director with the development of strategic and business plans budgets and direct day-to-day operations that align with Section Branch Department and Corporate goals
- Providing direct supervision coaching mentoring and performance evaluation for a diverse team
- Overseeing and supporting a team of funding specialists analysts community liaisons and administrative staff in the development management and oversight of business systems grant programs budgets and administration evaluation and performance measures and project management
- Leading the development of funding and investment strategies for key strategic portfolios and ensure alignment
- Development implementation and management of grant and funding administration policies systems and processes
- Implementing systems to use the data collected and analyzed from grants and funding to inform decision making identify supports required and improve performance management
- Manage complex and politically sensitive issues including anticipation/preventing issues and developing and implementing appropriate tools (ie. communication)
- Providing information research and support to the Community Services Advisory Board in their granting responsibilities
- Monitoring and managing overall risk to the Citys reputation as well as risk to the programs and services of the Section
- Building strong relationships across the Branch Department and other areas of the City to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and City outcomes
