The primary purpose of this position is to lead and implement the strategic development and execution of organizational goals and objectives across Markels Cyber & Tech E&O product lines. Exhibit extensive knowledge of the insurance industry and business operations across all product lines with proven success with new product and new business development. Provide leadership direction and support to underwriting teams and/or direct reports. Is responsible for underwriting profitability growth and retention of new and renewal business that is consistent with underwriting strategies. Manage territorial underwriting functions to achieve profit revenue loss ratio and expense targets. Ensure effective execution of Best conjunction with the Regional and PLL Leadership delegate underwriting authority to staff via letters of authority; monitor and revise as appropriate. Ensure a quality underwriting work product is produced consistent with letters of authority underwriting strategy standards and process. Provide coaching and training for underwriting staff based on results of underwriting audit review. Works to ensure that all processing and service standards are met. Communicate identified agency production training or quality issues to Marketing. Develop and maintain relationships with internal resources (PLL Claim Actuary Region etc.) to coordinate the services to customers. Demonstrates the ability to build partnerships with other business groups and identifies and delivers agency and product solutions. Maintains an understanding of all Markel products services and solutions and initiates discussions with other business units as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

Proactivelyidentifynew market opportunities and product offerings as well as support cross-sell opportunities byidentifyingclientneeds;

Maintainproduct Line specific technical pricing standards and underwriting authority within the Cyber & Tech E&O productline;

Set underwriting standards and strategy for the Cyber & Tech E&Oproduct;

Manage the Cyber & Tech E&O products through continuous Portfolio Management; Provide clear underwriting direction to regional underwriting teams and ensure effective execution in line with product goals.

Preparecoordinateand execute product line specific training for underwriters and supportstaff;

Provide reviews of accounts beyond assigned authoritylevels;

Transmit concerns/feedback to Senior Leadershipregardingproduct underwriting and claims concerns based on interactions with managementunderwritersandproducers;

Work with Business Development teams to target producers as well as manage clientrelationships;

Assistwith the development of new business opportunities.

Experience/Skillset:

Minimum of 15 years of underwritingexpertisewith at least 5 years of underwriting experience within Cyber/ProfessionalLiability;

Undergraduate degreepreferred;

Graduate degree and/or industry designations would be a definiteplus;

Superior verbal and written communicationskills;

Collaborativestyle;

High energypro-activeself-starter; someone witha strong senseofurgency;

Demonstrated ability in setting and meetingobjectivesand getting leadership peers and underwriters to buy in through superior influencingskills;

Flexible and spontaneous qualities are key elements to the success of thisposition;

Pay information:

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education job-relevant experience training licensure demonstrated competencies geographic location and other salary for the Sr. Director position is $188k - $259k with a 55% bonus potential the Managing Director position is $200K - $300K with a 50% bonus potential and 35% LTI.
