Manufacturing Engineer (Process Development Mechanical)
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer Process Development (Mechanical) is responsible for developing implementing and optimizing manufacturing processes and assembly systems for new and existing products. This role leads the design and launch of production lines supports prototype builds and ensures seamless transition from project phase to full-scale production. The position works cross-functionally with Engineering Quality Industrial Engineering Maintenance and international counterparts to ensure cost-effective high-quality manufacturing solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop implement and improve manufacturing processes equipment and assembly operations.
Lead new product and process launches ensuring smooth transfer into series production.
Design and develop assembly stations fixtures tooling and equipment using CAD and 3D modeling software.
Generate detailed prints technical specifications and equipment documentation.
Coordinate with machine builders and suppliers to manage timelines installation and commissioning activities.
Perform equipment pre-acceptance (FAT) and final acceptance (SAT) activities.
Develop and maintain PFMEAs standardized work instructions machine setup documentation and process control methods.
Conduct process capability studies and gage R&R analyses using statistical tools such as Excel or Minitab.
Support R&D with cost analysis labor calculations cycle time studies and production rate estimates for RFQs.
Collaborate with Quality to develop control plans and ensure compliance with industry standards (VDA IATF ISO).
Analyze production data to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage capital expenditure projects within approved budgets.
Assist Testing and Controls teams in the design and implementation of test equipment.
Support troubleshooting of mechanical process and automation-related issues as needed.
Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable government regulations.
Participate in professional development activities and training related to manufacturing technologies and processes.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Experience:
48 years of experience in manufacturing process development automation or industrial engineering.
Experience supporting new product launches and production line development preferred.
Internship or co-op experience considered a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong CAD and 3D modeling experience (Creo preferred).
Knowledge of manufacturing automation controls and electrical systems is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical software (Minitab or equivalent).
Experience with PFMEA process capability analysis and continuous improvement methods.
Additional Requirements:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Eligible for passport and international travel as required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
