General Description

Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is the official destination marketing organization for the city and promotes travel to Atlanta. ACVB positions Atlanta as the leading destination for conventions and tourism through sales and marketing programs.

ACVBs international tourism team works with tour operators to promote Atlanta as a premier leisure travel destination. We are seeking an intern to support international tourism initiatives including travel trade engagement market research and partner outreach. This role will contribute to efforts that expand Atlantas presence in global markets increase inbound visitation and enhance the citys positioning on a global scale.

ACVBs summer internship offers a dynamic hands-on experience designed to meaningfully build your professional skill set. This isnt your typical internship theres no fetching coffee or making lunch runs though we do enjoy discovering new coffee spots and restaurants.

From helping build itineraries and coordinating services to tracking follow-up opportunities and maintaining CRM records the intern will gain hands-on experience in how Atlanta is positioned within international leisure travel markets. Along the way the intern will work closely with ACVB members including hotels attractions and restaurants to strengthen destination partnerships and deepen their understanding of Atlantas tourism industry. This role offers a behind-the-scenes look at how global visitation is developed and sustained especially as Atlanta prepares to welcome visitors from around the world for major events.

What will the responsibilities be

  • Assist with data entry account updates and reporting in CRM (Simpleview)
  • Support preparation for international trade shows sales missions and FAM tours
  • Help organize and maintain destination collateral inventory and promotional materials
  • Distribute qualified leads to hotels and partners and assist with follow-up under team guidance
  • Research current hospitality and travel trends to support international market strategy and trade outreach efforts
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of international familiarization (FAM) tours including itinerary creation securing accommodations and confirming services
  • Represent ACVB by attending industry events and business openings to network with hospitality professionals

Who is the ideal candidate

  • Undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing a degree in hospitality international relations business mass communications or a related discipline
  • Candidates who have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates who have proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Candidates who are self-starters and team players
  • Candidates with strong organizational communication and time management skills

What additional information is important to consider

  • Work Hours and Duration of Internship: 12 weeks (20 hours/week) during normal business hours
  • Work Location: This is an on-site position located in the Atlanta office. Remote internships are not offered.
  • Work Environment: Standard temperature-controlled office environment with moderate office noise level
  • Physical Requirements: Light lifting up to 5 lbs.
