Job Summary

Compensation: $18/hr

Benefits:
We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. Housing Works covers most of the plan; you pay a portion based on your salary. Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. This money is available for tuition loan reimbursement tuition costs and text books.

Overview:

The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building and its grounds.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

  • Maintaining an attractive sanitary and safe facility for clients staff and public; communicating information in response to inquiries.
  • Providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings clinical activities and events
  • Maintaining facilities to minimize facility deterioration and damage.

Secondary

  • Responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the facilities.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Participate in monthly inspections to ensure compliance with requirements cleanliness and proper upkeep of the facility.
  • Ensure that the facility is clean and always maintained.
  • Strongly and enthusiastically support and participate in advocacy and direct action to end the twin crises of AIDS and homelessness.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure that all physical space of a facility is sanitary clean and orderly.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements for facility maintenance and cleaning supplies are stored properly.
  • Be proactive; keep Facility Manager informed of daily activities and significant conditions that may impact accomplishing tasks assigned.
  • Adhere to the scheduled or routine custodial and maintenance plans to ensure that all common kitchen and office areas of commercial properties are maintained in a clean sanitary and orderly manner (power washing painting daily custodian schedule etc.)
  • Ensures are restrooms are sanitary and attractive throughout the day and have adequate supplies as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Able to lift 50lbs alone.
  • Good communication skills both verbally and written including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Dependable & flexible as well as possessing the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • S95 to be obtained in first 90 days of employment.
  • Basic emailing knowledge.
  • Participate in advocacy and direct action to end the twin crisis of homelessness and HIV/AIDS

Accordingly the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a CBA) between Housing Works and the RWDSU
