POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Training Leader is a hands-on plant-based role responsible for developing implementing and sustaining workforce training programs in a chemical manufacturing environment. This role works directly on the production floor to assess competency develop training plans maintain qualification and certification documentation and ensure employees are trained to safely and effectively perform their roles. The Trainer partners closely with Operations EHS Engineering Quality and Plant Leadership to support safe operations regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. The Operational Training Leader plays a critical role in ensuring operational reliability regulatory compliance and sustainable growth. Located at our Florence Kentucky site the Operational Training Leader reports to the Plant Manager.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
An Operational Training Leader is responsible for but not limited to the following:
Training Development & Delivery
Develops and maintains role-based training plans for operators maintenance and technical staff.
Creates and updates training materials including SOP-based training OJT checklists work instructions and assessments.
Spends time embedded on the manufacturing floor to observe work practices and partner with Plant Leadership to align training programs with operational goals.
Delivers classroom hands-on and on-the-job training in a chemical manufacturing setting.
Coaches employees on proper procedures safe work practices and troubleshooting techniques.
Supports onboarding and initial qualification of new hires transfers and contractors.
Evaluates training effectiveness and make improvements based on performance metrics incidents and audit findings.
Assists with knowledge capture from subject matter experts and experienced operators.
Skills Matrix & Qualification Management
Builds implements and maintains a plant skills matrix that clearly defines required competencies by role.
Tracks employee qualification certification and requalification status.
Maintains accurate and audit-ready training and qualification documentation.
Identifies skill gaps and collaborate with supervision to close gaps through targeted training.
Training Team Establishment & Leadership
Establishes develops and sustains a site-based training team composed of operators maintenance leaders subject matter experts (SMEs) and supervisors.
Partners with Plant Leadership to identify qualified Trainers and SMEs based on experience technical proficiency and communication skills.
Defines clear roles expectations and accountability for training team members.
Coordinates training activities across departments to ensure consistency in content approach and qualification standards.
Serves as the primary point of contact for training alignment between Operations Maintenance EHS Engineering and Plant Leadership.
TraintheTrainer Program
Designs implements and maintains a TraintheTrainer (TTT) program to ensure internal trainers are qualified to effectively deliver training and conduct skill evaluations.
Develops TTT materials covering:
Adult learning principles
Effective on-the-job training techniques
Evaluation and sign-off standards
Documentation and recordkeeping requirements
Safety and regulatory considerations
Observes and coaches internal trainers to ensure consistent high-quality training delivery.
Conducts periodic requalification and refreshers for trainers to maintain training quality and compliance.
Maintains qualification records for trainers and ensure trainers remain current and authorized.
Collaboration & Leadership Support
Partners with Plant Leadership EHS Quality and Engineering to ensure training supports regulatory permit and compliance requirements (e.g. OSHA EPA PSM).
Supports Management of Change (MOC) by updating training materials and ensuring impacted employees are trained prior to change implementation.
Supports troubleshooting and knowledge sharing during shifts startups and process changes.
Participates in audits and incident reviews to identify training-related improvements.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in a technical science manufacturing or instructional design/training and development-related field or equivalent experience.
5 years of work experience in chemical manufacturing developing and delivering technical or operational training
Strong understanding of process safety SOPs and manufacturing systems.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs procedures and process documentation.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or electronic training records.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as OSHA PSM EPA or ISO standards.
Adult learning or instructional design experience.
Physical requirements
Regular presence in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Ability to wear PPE and navigate production areas (stairs ladders confined spaces as required).
Ability to work flexible hours to support different shifts as needed.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $93530.00 and $137181.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills experience and other factors permitted by law.Key Skills
