Purpose
The Drop Off Center Attendant staffs two Department ofPublic Works (DPW) Sanitation Services Drop Off Centers. The Attendant greetscustomers verifies site usage eligibility screens and categorizes vehicleloads and provides direction to customers at the entrance gate.

North:6660 North Industrial Road
South:3879 West Lincoln Avenue
Essential Functions
Drop Off Center Operations
- Assess the amount and type of material being disposed of and enter details into a hand-held digital device.
- Identify and inspect all waste materials to ensure that they are acceptable and to assess applicable charges.
- Provide guidance and direction and monitor customers use of the site to ensure customers are separating and placing materials into the proper disposal areas.
- Inspect all areas of the Drop Off Center to determine if waste and recyclable materials are located in the proper place.
- Retrieve from waste containers and storage areas any materials improperly placed and move them to the correct designated containers or areas on the site.
- Organize workflow and materials in the Drop Off Center.
- Clean and sweep the Drop Off Center yard.
- Operate forklift to load and unload pallets.
Customer Service
- Greet customers at the gate and verify proof of eligibility to use the Drop Off Centers.
- Screen vehicles and inspect materials that residents bring for proper disposal.
- As applicable explain the basis for denial of entrance to the customer based on ineligibility of the user or unacceptable status of the material.
- Determine if payment is required and the total amount due. Instruct residents where to proceed in the Drop Off Center for payment if required and to unload materials.
- Guide customers relative to sorting requirements and proper placement of various items.
- Direct heavy traffic in the Drop Off Center including residents vehicles City roll-off style dump trucks and other commercial vehicles picking up materials for recycling or disposal or placing empty containers.
- Answer questions and give instructions and directions to visitors to the Drop Off Center.

Conditions of Employment
The Drop Off Center Attendant must be willing and able to dothe following:
- Work weekends irregular shifts and shifts without two consecutive days off.
- Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions while standing and walking for up to 8 hours.
- Climb ladders and work at heights.
- Lift and carry 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.
The pre-placement medical requirements for this titleinclude the following:
- Drug Test
- Physical with lift test
- Audiogram
- Vision Test
Minimum Requirements
- One year of customer service experience providing information to customers or responding to customer complaints and requests.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may beconsidered.

Current Salary
The current salary range(Pay Range 8DN) is$51816annually ($24.91 hourly) and the current resident incentive salary range forCity of Milwaukee residents is$53889 annually ($25.90 hourly).Appointmentwill be made in accordance with the City of MilwaukeeSalary Ordinance.
