Parents As Teacher/Early Childhood Coordinator
2026-2027 School Year
Position Summary: Provides leadership oversight and vision for the work of the Early Childhood Program and Parents as Teacher (PAT) Program. Under the supervision of the Director of Early Childhood implement and administer the Parents as Teachers Program following guidelines developed by the Mehlville School District.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or four year degree in either Early Childhood Education Social Work Psychology or related field.
- Maintains a current National Parents as Teachers certification fulfilling annual Professional Development requirements.
- Experience as a Parent Educator preferred.
- Administration degree preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain a high-quality Parents as Teachers Program for the Mehlville School District by fulfilling DESE and PATNC goals.
- Provide appropriate and useful information and guidance to the parents as their childs primary and most important teachers.
- Inform parents of possible delays in their childs development as well as normal progression.
- Prepare children for success in school and in life.
- Maintain a caseload of families and provide all PAT services: personal visits developmental screenings facilitate group connections and connect families to community resources.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
- Possess the ability to collect and document program data: reports grant applications and electronic program service data.
- Commitment to continuous quality program involvement.
- Monitor service delivery in accordance with District DESE and PAT compliance.
- Manage a budget: salaries program expenses grant and donation funds and DESE invoices.
- Familiarity with the following resources: DESE website/links and pages Parents as Teachers website/links PAT Foundation Curriculum Visit Tracker Data System and local community resources.
- Direct coordinate support and evaluate on-the-job performance of Parent Educators and PAT secretary: staff meetings reflective supervision observation of personal visits group connections developmental screenings community programs training and evaluation of staff.
- Coordinate and monitor participation in the Diaper Bank Program.
- Coordinate with the Director of Early Childhood in the planning and development for the needs of early learners.
- Oversee the screening process referrals to the Early Childhood Diagnostic Department and the Diagnostic processes.
- Help plan and monitor building safety.
- Record and request for building updates and needs through custodians maintenance etc.
- Assist in completing and supporting EC staff evaluations.
- Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Early Childhood.
